  • Nearly two months later....

.....we are doing well.  My husband has work.  The kids enjoy school.  The little ones occasionally get along.  The baby is learning how to walk and is so pleased with himself.  I smile every time I look at that grin!  I am currently freezing and should start the woodstove but it is late so that will need to wait until tomorrow and I'll just turn on the electric baseboard heat.  The oldest 2 kids had barn parties with their church groups tonight...what fun!

In the foster parent department we are currently "open but not accepting placements".  We can do this for 1 year following the adoption and then we need to either "close" or "accept placements".  So by that time the baby will be 2 and then we'll need to decide....maybe we can get an extension since he's so young?!

This (school) year I've been attending a MOPS group in Ephrata twice a month.  I enjoy going and the kids seem to enjoy their classes.  It's probably a good thing since next year Janae starts school.  I'm going to miss her!  I will miss it next week though since I'm going to a friend's creative memories open house.

I've been experimenting with different types of tea--partly because I've been drinking a lot of cups each day (this is my "destress" choice) so I'm getting bored with my favorites and partly because I'm trying to find ones that satisfy me without sugar (my weight is creeping slowly up and I'd like to acquire healthy habits while I'm younger)....unfortunately, I love sweet tea hot or cold!  But I'm finding that I can tolerate some of the flavored/spicy teas without sugar...if I must!

Well, I think everyone is now out for the night so I'll head that direction too....after doing the dishes.  As always, updates are available more frequently at www.rksauder.blogspot.com.

  • August

As normal, I update my blogspot much more frequently than this....however, thanks to the comment by Doris, I finally realized that if I emailed myself a picture set for "smaller" or something like that I would have a resolution small enough to do a profile picture....my daughter took this picture tonight, the end of a rather long, hot, humid day.  Thankfully Sunday should be nicer.

Today I made "Freezer Salsa" and "Raisin Bran Muffins".  We tye-dyed shirts with my sister-in-laws and their girls.  We exchanged names for Christmas.  Chopping vegetables (see mention of salsa) always takes much longer then I think it will.  So I have various other projects that I should go and finish instead of sitting here (laundry, dishes, filing, etc.).  But it's hot and humid!

Last week we were on vacation.  We spent 9 days at my in-laws' beach house.  We haven't been on vacation for that long of a period of time since before children--well, we did take the youth group on a work week to Ontario for about this time but that wasn't really vacation as we were working.  The first couple of days my in-laws were there with us, then we had several days alone, and then some friends came for the rest of the week.  Our friends have 6 kids so the total was 4 adults and 11 children...we go to the beach in the morning or evening but never during the afternoon when it is crowded!  We had a wonderful, relaxing time.

Now it is time to get back to work:  I still need to make applesauce, can pears, do corn (if I can still find some).  We have planted broccoli and cauliflower for a late crop and we're still getting some limas (but they didn't yield well).  The tomatoes are still producing so I think next I will make pizza sauce when I have enough.  School starts on Wednesday.  I hope we're ready!

  • Adoption

We are on the threshold of being able to adopt our (2) youngest boys.  We've finished our adoption training.  Their parents' parental rights have been terminated and they have not appealed.  Our family profile is complete.  So all that's left is some more legal documents and then to get a court date with the judge!  We are very excited to be able to keep these boys with us.  Once they are ours, I'll be able to post pictures of them online.
